What were some of the successful outcomes from all the movements in the 1960's?

Towards the end of the 1960's some activist became impatient with the progress of many movements and began to resort to more violent measures. The weatherman bombings, the black panthers, riots and destruction. What would you say to an activist who believes everything that they did was a waste? What did they actually accomplish in the 60's?
