What's up with && and ;; etc.?

I'm sure you all have seen it at some point... instead of putting just one "and" symbol, they'll put two of them (ex. break her heart && i'll break your face), or they'll randomly insert two semicolons after a word/phrase/sentence/whatever (ex. i love you;;). It seems to be a trend on Myspace and other websites. What's up with it?
