June should be a good time to find something cheaper here in Key West, but remember that Key West is always more expensive than most of the rest of the USA, except maybe Hawaii and Alaska. I would suggest you check the local newspaper - you can subscribe to it at www.keysnews.com - and you will be able to watch the ads for apartments, rooms, etc. There are laws here about renting, but it is more the landlords that have to worry about them than the renters. Many people here advertise their apartments on craigslist - there is a section for the Florida Keys. So look there as well. Start contacting a few of the people who are advertising in one of those places and most likely you will find something that will work for you.
