How to remove standing water?

While my husband and I were away we came back to our apartment flooded. We live on the bottom floor of ourt complex, and yesterday our waterheater/angle stop broke and it flooded our patio/infront of the apartment. I believe that there was so much water, that it is now coming up through the linoleum in the bathroom (I can't find any leaks!). I'm just curious, if this sounds that the water could be coming up through the linoleum (or if we have an under ground leak we haven't caught yet) also if you have any tips on the best way for me to clean the water up. I've been using the old towel method, but it's going VERY slowly. Trying not to spend more money than we have to. ANY advice is appreciated! Thanks
