How's a 6 yr old affected when he/she witnesses mother having with a man who's not dad?

the man is apparently and engages in polyamorous relations. The mother and father are divorced and the mother has relocated to where there is no familial support. Furthermore she is a doctoral student who studies educational psychology. The mother is financially supported only through child support from the father, financial aid and student loans.
